I'm interested to know of people's thoughts or experiences using SWLS in mail-out self administered format with a TBI/ABI population living in the community.

Pim,

We have administered the SWLS in-person, by phone, and by mail with no obvious differences in results, and no spontaneous feedback from respondents about difficulties with any of the methods of administration. One exception is that some interviewers have said that, during oral presentation, some subjects with acquired brain injuries have trouble with the phrase in Item #5 "I would change almost nothing." It is reported that they may respond opposite to the direction intended.
