I am interested in using the Chart as part of a project with TBI survivors and am interested in information about validation of the instrument with this population. I saw a statement on the COMBI site indicating that the CHART has been found to be an appropriate measure of handicap for use with individual having a range of cognitive impairments, but the statement is referenced to work in development.

Is anyone aware of CHART validation studies for TBI? If so, is there information about specific items that hold up with this population?

There are two papers that have addressed the CHART and its uses in other impairment populations other than SCI. The first "Incorporating the Cognitive Independence Domain into CHART" -Journal of rehabilitation Outcomes Measurements, validates the cognitive subscale of CHART with other impairment groups including TBI. The second "in press" specifically addresses the appropriatness of using CHART with other impairment groups. For Full information on the Creation of CHART download the manual at ftp://www.craighospital.org/CHART
