There seems to be a discrepancy between rating individuals with the syllabus definitions and the decision trees (at least for some of the items). In the syllabus, a subject is rated as a 1 if they perform 25% or less of a given task. In the decision tree they are rated a 1 only if they contribute nothing to the activity (true total assistance required). Is this really an inconsistency, and if so, which method would you recommend to use for data collection? IP: Logged |

This is not necessarily an inconsistency. In numerous items, the decision-tree uses the words "helper basically does...." which could be interpreted as the individual with the disability providing less than 25% of the task. Since you bring up the point of the interpretability of the 25% performance of task being a "total assist", I would recommend using the decision tree for scoring the FIM to improve reproducibility.
